Rules
This event will be run in accordance with the SLSNZ Surf Sports
Competition Manual 8th Edition (V1) October
2012.
Event rules are subject to change at the discretion of the Event
Management Committee; however they will be communicated at the
earliest opportunity.
Eligibility of Competitors
This competition is open to any SLSNZ member. Age group is
determined by the competitor's age as at midnight on
30th September 2013. You need to be either a
refreshed Surf Lifeguard for the 12/13 or current season OR a newly
qualified Surf Lifeguard in the current season.
Non-Qualified Competitors
This event is open to non-qualified members over 14 years of age as
per SLSNR policy.
Non-qualified competitors will be required to wear an Orange numbered SLSNR Cap and will not be eligible for competition points. All Non-Qualified competitors must register and sign a waiver.
Registrations
All competitors will be required to sign in at this event between
8.00 - 9.00am; they will then be issued with a wristband that
confirms they have met event eligibility criteria. They will
be required to wear the band for the duration of the event.
The Competition Club of the Year Policy has been approved by the Board. Should a member choose to compete despite not meeting the required event eligibility criteria the following will apply: The competitors Club will lose all points from the event that would contribute towards the Competition Club of the Year.
Spot checks will take place at this event to ensure competitor eligibility is being met. When ineligible competitors take part, it is a major breach of the health and safety standards we are trying to adhere to and puts all of our members at risk.
Boat/Canoe
A Team Declaration must be submitted on the attached form by 9am to
the Registration Team. The number of crews affects the racing
programme for the day, therefore no late Team Declarations will be
accepted and crews will be unable to race. No exceptions.
Ironman/Woman Draws:
The Ironman/Woman draw is Ski/Swim/Board. This will also be
communicated at the Team Managers Meeting.
Competition Safety Manual
The Competition Safety Manual is available for viewing. One key
section of the Competition Safety Manual is the Missing Competitor
at Sea - Emergency Response Plan and the roles and responsibilities
of Officials, Team Managers, Competitors, Management and IRB Crews
will be outlined at the TM meeting.
This is a hugely important plan to understand and know where you can assist as time is critical when dealing with a missing person in the sea. The information sheet you will receive at the Team managers meeting is a key way to educate members of this plan if a situation arises and should not be taken lightly. We ask that you pass this information on to the relevant parties in your club.
We would also ask that all competitors please bring fins and goggles to the event.
Briefings
Attendance at the Team Managers Briefing is compulsory.
Important information will be given at briefings that you
will need to know covering core event information and health and
safety. All attendees at Briefings will be required to sign
in.
All Team Managers (including Boats/Canoes) must attend the 0845 Briefing at the Clubrooms. Should a Club Team Manager not be in attendance the competition start will be delayed until they have been briefed.
A separate Boat/Canoe Sweep/Captain meeting will be held at 0945 in the Boat/Canoe arena. This will contain race related information.
Beach Access for Boats/Canoes
Boats/Canoes will be taken onto the beach by Muriwai
vehicles. No other vehicles are permitted to access the
beach. They will be transported onto the beach from 7.15am to
8.45am only, the preference being that Boats/Canoes arrive earlier
rather than later. Please see the site plan to view the
Boat/Canoe drop off area.
Other Trailer Parking
We will be utilising the car park area north of the Muriwai Patrol
Tower for trailer parking.
Parking
Vehicle Parking will be on the grassy area in front of the Muriwai
SLSC so as to ease pressure on public parking. There will be
signage to the designated parking.
Competition Uniform
All competitors must be wearing their club cap and approved club
swimwear.
Non-qualified members must wear an orange numbered SLSNR cap.
Competition Vests
As of 1 October 2013 it is mandatory for all competitors to wear a
High Visibility Vest during competitions.
